We all are aware of the dangers of smoking, alcohol and drugs. Food addiction seems a trifle, compared to these. In fact, this false feeling can play a cruel joke. And it’s exactly what is happening at present. Every year, the number of food addicts keeps growing steadily.Even our communication often comes down to a meal:

  • meeting with friends – at a café,
  • on a date – at a restaurant,
  • in the movie – with popcorn,
  • you have to choose a small gift – flowers, candy…
Food Addiction

In such circumstances, becoming overweight is very simple. Moreover, you can even become a food addict, to the worst case. For example, you constantly eat chocolate when you have a chronic bad mood, and you don’t notice that snacks over time have become a goal in itself.

There is no certain category of people, who are prone to get into such a situation. However, there are conditions, under which the probability of such an outcome increases considerably.

Food addiction (like any other) is psychologically justified. People try to “eat up” such things like:

reluctance to solve problems,
internal conflicts,
suppressed feelings.

As a rule, a predisposition to food addiction is founded in childhood, when a child adapts to the outside world.

It is noteworthy that people from troubled and hyper-caring families can become food addicted with the same probability.

  • In the first case, people are driven by disagreement, a feeling of protest. In the second case, people lend themselves to the force of habit.

Since childhood, parents or close relatives “feed him up” with their care in all respects. This reaches such an extent that the child starts eating not in compliance with his needs, and at their request.

The opposite situation is a little paradoxical, when the child convinces himself: I will be bigger in size, I will become more important.

At the same time, when such chubby kids start being teased at school, they do not stop gaining weight.

Sometimes the opposite happens – they start eating even more.

This is the case when the problem coincides with the solution. When a stressful situation occurs, the child is used to look for not a solution, and, for example, a bun. This habit is developed so strongly that he does not understand that only exacerbates the situation.

How can you determine that a person is motivated by food addiction, instead of simple hunger?

1. First of all, the lifestyle changes.

2. Second, he often thinks about food, and the amount of such thoughts becomes more and more considerable.

3. People that surround him have to suffer, because most of the time he is busy with his addiction, rather than friends and family.

4. His psycho-emotional state changes. He becomes anxious, aggressive and irritated.

5. One of the main features is the inability to abandon the newfound lifestyle.

Naturally, it is always better to engage in the prevention of disease, instead of treating it. To prevent the development of food addiction, you should limit the consumption of sweets and smoked.

  • After all, it is the harmful products that cause addiction. Therefore, it is desirable to reduce their amount to a minimum.

If you are incapable of giving up your favorite foods, try to outwit your taste buds. Cut, for example, the sausage into thinnest possible slices. This psychological trick will help you both get the pleasure and not to harm your health.

Try to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Select them according to the season. And leave less space to their harmful competitors.

By the way, cooking method is very important.

  • Ideally, you should give up fried foods. For a start, try to give preference to oven baking and grilling.

And the good news for dessert! You shouldn’t completely deprive yourself of sweet foods. Moreover, you can eat a small piece of dark chocolate almost every day! Happiness hormone serotonin is the best assistant in the treatment and prevention of any disease.
